WildfireSIM Unity 3D, NCSU, 2024
Developed during time of employment at the Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Science department at NCSU.
This 3D wildfire simulation was developed by Ethan Brain in Unity 3D. The landscapes were generated automatically through the use of GIS data. The fire spread and fire simulation logic was developed and coded in C# to accurately simulate the spread of fire throughout a landscape (influenced by variables such as wind speed, moisture, etc).
The tree models were created using SpeedTree, and were randomized using vegetation simulation and scattering logic. The process of converting SpeedTree vegetation into fuel systems was coded by Ethan Brain to accurately portray fuel maps in a 3D environment.
