Ethan Brain
Ethan Brain is a new media designer, multimedia specialist, and researcher of digital psychology. He is currently based in Raleigh, North Carolina.
In 2021, he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in New Media and Design from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. During his time at UNC Greensboro, he found a passion for combining his interest in the performing arts with animation and experimental video art. This interest allowed for a wide variety of training in 3D animation, 3D modeling, motion graphics, graphic design, video production, and compositing software.
In 2024 he received a Master of Art + Design from North Carolina State University. As a Master’s student, Ethan’s thesis and final project was centered around a comparative analysis of the work of the Japanese author Kōbō Abe and contemporary digital violence -- using scenes within the literature of Abe to take multiple sideways glances at the topic of digital/online violence.
His current research is centered around the analysis and critique of emerging technologies, shining a light on socio-political and psychological impacts.
Outside of design and research, Ethan is a circus artist, performer, and avid distance runner.
